Good Work

My thoughts on how our FO has fared thus far in their tenure...

First off, Tangini gets it. They have done a very good job identifying what positions need to be addressed and getting it done.

Since they took over they have:

  1. Moved away from Chad and drafted a QB they hope will be their guy for a while (jury is still out). Regardless of his play thus far, we knew we weren't winning with CP, making getting his replacement a must. They got it done and inside of 2 yrs CP was out. Good work here IMO.
  2. Drafted and built our O and D lines. We are much bigger along both lines. We now have proven Pro Bowlers on both lines. We have future Pro Bowlers along the lines in key positions (LT, C). Good work here IMO.
  3. Completely rebuilt our LB corp. We are huge back there now. Harris, Pace, Bowens, Ghoulston, Barton, Thomas is a deep, diverse group of LB's. Barton and Harris are stout. Pace and Ghoulston are speedy. Barton is a bit of both. Plus, they all fit our scheme. Again, good work here IMO.
  4. Finally invested in a TE with legitimate speed and pass catching ability. We talk about game planning against us on offense. We haven't had a TE be a concern for our opponent since Jonny Mitchell's 4 or 5 game run of having his head on right. This will help our O. Again, good work IMO.
  5. Locked up solid talent in the secondary. Revis and Rhodes are locked in for a while. Good work. A solid pass rush will help whoever is opposite Revis and we've invested a new draft choice in a CB. Elam was a nice, edgy player last year. Plus, we've moved out some dead wood. Again, they drafted a potential Pro Bowl, shut down corner and have a legitimate Pro Bowl caliber safety locked up. Good work IMO.
  6. Cotch and Coles are locked up. We drafted Chanci last year to play the slot. We drafted a guy this year to be a big target. Will they work out? Who knows...but our FO realized this need at has done something about it. Chanci and this new guy need to get it done.
  7. Gotten rid of DRob and Vilma...two players in the wrong scheme. Good work IMO.

This FO has done us proud. Now we need some of these logically selected peices to step up and play well. We do that and we'll be in good shape.

Nice post.

Except that they drafted Clemens because they were afraid Chad might never be able to play again [insert Suckington joke here], not because they wanted to replace him. And Ferguson is a long way from being considered a even a future pro bowler. I'd be happy if he was merely slightly above average.
