No way they get in the playoffs.

With Gaborik playing hurt, they have no offense. Lundquist is great, but asking him to shut out the oppostion night after night is not going to work. There are several very good players on the Rangers, but they do not have any depth upfront. Further, playing Rosival and Redden over young guys now at Hartford is a compelte waste of time and money.It's an embarrassment.

Had occasion to go last night. Clear that the Garden under the Dolans sells nostalgia rather than the teams they actually sport these days. Problem is the Knicks and Rangers have had a lot of failure and few times of greatness. It's becoming a parody.Also the Garden was not sold out and had numerous empty seats, and almost half the sky boxes were empty. 1994 is 16 years ago. Trying to hang your hat on that is a joke.

As a Rangers fan, it's a harsh thing top say but the future is bleak as long as the Dolans are in charge. You can dump Sather, but realistically the stucture under the Dolans precludes hiring a guy who actually would do the dirty work of acknowledging this is a mess, bite the bullet and try to build like Lou Lamoiriello or Craig Patrick or Ray Shero. A guy like that tells Dolan to get out of his office twice a day, and that simply won't fly.

Knicks fans are going to be in for a real shock when they whiff on all the big name free agents next year. Why the hell would any of those guys want to come and play for a franchise that has been a joke for the past decade ? They aren't going to remember Reed, Ewing, Oakley. What those guys are going to see is a sexual harrassment scandal, empty seats, Marbury, Francis.

Sometime soon Sather will go off to Palm Springs to chase little white balls to the end of his days. Long term worried that instead of getting a Shero or Lamiriello-someone who knows talent down to the minors, juniors,and international- Dolan instead harkens back to 1994 again and hires Mark Messier.

Now you can respect Messier as a great palyer, but does he have any clue beyond BSing with his circle of pals?Does his current employment with MSG involve any scouting, or does he have a nice midtown office with an expense account? Was he at the World juniors over Christmas? Lamiarello was a college hockey coach who saw international competitons and who didn't get anything handed to him. Get the sense that Dolan will always make the popular move rather than the one that makes sense long-term. While many Rangers fans might initially welcome that Messier hire, sports is repleat with instances of superstar players who were managerial busts. So afetr the euphoria of another spat of 1994 nostaglia wears off this franchise will still be a mess.
