Linebacker transition takes time & offense can get better.

I don't think it should come as a surprise that the defense is like Jeckal & Hyde. There's talent all over the place but no cohesion from one level to the next. While Revis is getting bashed on Twitter, the facts are the Green TD was on the safety & let's face it, he got beat by a track star on a perfectly thrown ball while Trod had 5 seconds to throw the ball. He's not Revis Island, but he's still a very good player.

What we really need is for all of our young LBs to get the experience they need to make this defense better every week. I think the CBA has a big part in these slow starts, bad tackling ect. It's like the games are practice now. If you look at the Pats, their defense got a lot better when Collins & Hightower got better. We need to tread water with some wins early because the Jets aren't close to a finished product this year on offense or defense. That's a scary proposition to their opponents & a big reason why the media were quite gaga with them after that Bills win Thursday Night.

Trod is such a weird matchup. And very difficult for young LBs because of the discipline the coaches are asking for. Young inexperienced LBs run around like their heads are cut off trying to do too much, instead of trusting teammates. Just think, Jordan Jenkins was a preseason darling for Bowles & Rogers and we haven't even seen him yet. After we run this gauntlet we'll face some QBs and teams that will be hard pressed to succeed against the Jets Dline (similar to the Rams last year, who feast on bad QBs). That will allow guys like Jenkins to get up to speed to help us to the finish line of a long season. You'll have a guy like Lee too, that will settle into his role & what he's good at & what he needs to work on. Other than Russell Wilson, there's no more ridiculously fast QBs like TRod that force our defensive line to be that cautious about their rushing lanes. We're gonna get after some people now.

Chan Gailey can put a lot on Fitz plate & Fitz has the smarts to run the offense, the biggest difference between Fitz & Geno. Even one of those shovel passes that people were screaming to take out of the offense actually worked but Fitz was too impatient. It was to the left with Powell, Fitz shoveled it way to early & on the replay you could see Decker was WIDE OPEN, could have been a TD, would have certainly been a 1st down. A confident Fitz is exciting & you can tell he LOVES his new toy in Matt Forte.

You drinkin bro?  Seems a little all over the place, lol

will try to respond though

agree, the young kids at LB should get better as the season goes along.

revis deserves the criticism he's getting for 2 bad games this year ... He certainly is still immensely talented ... But looks like he can't shut down top WR's by himself anymore ... Bowles needs to adjust our back end schemes.

Chan & Fitz were both masterful @ Buff Thursday night ... This team has a chance

Lee had a good game. His speed was evident on the TFL of an extremely elusive RB in McCoy.  Jenkins had a bad calf injury. He has been out for a month now.

Revis looks slow. Almost like he is loafing at CB. He will face this challenge the rest of the season until he stops that play. Better think that the scouting department is busy looking for speed at CB.

Fitz is smart no doubt. He is a journeyman. This team does have a chance this season and will be in tough, close games all year. He has the weapons and the D. He just has to keep things in front of him. The Jets still have unused weapons on the bench.

I am concerned that our OLB haven't made the impact we were all hoping for. I agree on the point about Jenkins, I hope he makes an impact when he finally arrive in the starting lineup. But, the pass rush from the edge doesn't seem to be there.

There could, hopefully, be a gameplan reason behind the lack of edge pressure against the Bills, though. Tyrod Taylor can be dangerous if you lose contain on a blitz from the edges, so maybe the gameplan was to set the edge instead of committing upfield on the dangerous scrambler.

We're only 2 games in, so um hoping this lack of solid OLB play from Mauldin and others, as well as the Revis sh*t-show, is just lousy, CBA practice rules and some game planning stuff, and not a season-long trend.

The outside linebackers are barely playing. The Jets have been running a nickle package almost exclusively with 4 down lineman, two linebackers (Harris and Lee/Henderson) and 5 DBs (3 CBs and 2 S). Obviously they vary it but that seems to be their base formation. It also seems Mauldin is in the doghouse and the Jets are comfortable with giving Catapano anything more than situational rushes. This all may change when Jenkins returns, but really they are maximizing their talent on the line with four man fronts.
