JetsGoFar
Hey fellas.... Here's my latest mock draft. I hope you enjoy it. --------------------- We need line help the most. We just cut Mawae (more politics than actual play), we have no right tackle, and Moore and Jones need serious competition to upgrade the quality and depth of our line. We hear about Katnik, but we need another center as well. As we get closer to the draft, our #4 pick will gain value, especially if on draft day, if Leinert, Brick, or Williams is there for the taking. I'm a big proponent of trading down unless we get Leinert at #4. Why? I believe in Adrian Jones at left tackle, and think he can be the "next" Brick but much, much cheaper (remember, Brick actually has more experience playing left tackle than Jones - if Jones had 3-4 years of college starting experience at LT, he would've been a bonafide 1st rounder too). Williams is a great workout warrior, but I don't see Julius Peppers to be honest with you. He is a freak though. If Leinert is not there, trade the #4 pick to Denver for the #15 and #22 pick. Let Denver pick whomever they want (Williams, Hawk, Davis, Brick etc.) and our draft goes a little sumthin like this: 1st Round #15: Bobby Carpenter/OLB (STARTER) #22: Gabe Watson/NT (STARTER) #29: Nick Mangold/C (STARTER) 2nd Round #35: Ryan O'Callaghan/RT (STARTER) 3rd Round #71: Daryn Colledge/LT (Backup with Starting Potential 1-2 years) #97: Omar Jacobs/QB (Starting potential in 2-3 years) 4th Round #102: Deuce Lutui/OG (Starting Potential PERIOD; can push Moore) #116: Jeremy Trueblood/RT (Nice backup; nasty but average starter) 5th Round #133: Matt Bernstein/FB (STARTER) 6th Round #163: Mike Degory/C (Starting potential in 2-3 yrs; great backup) 7th Round #194: Michael Robinson/QB-WR (Project pick, has to find a spot but excellent physical tools) JetsGoFar's 2006 New York Jets QB Penny/Ramsey/Jacobs RB Martin/Houston/Blaylock FB Bernstein/Askew/Lawton TE Baker/Jolley/Dreesen LT Jones/Colledge LG Kendall/Morley C Mangold/Katnik/Degory RG Moore/Lutui RT O'Callaghan/Trueblood WR Coles/Dwight WR Cotchery/McCareins/Robinson 3-4 DE Kimo/Thomas NT Watson/Robertson/Pouha DE Ellis/Ball LB Vilma LB Carpenter LB Barton LB Hobson CB Miller/Barrett CB Dyson/Strait SS Maddox/Coleman FS Rhodes/Coleman or 4-3 DE Thomas/Kimo NT Watson/Pouha DT Robertson/Pope DE Ellis/Ball LB Vilma LB Carpenter LB Barton CB Miller/Barrett CB Dyson/Strait SS Maddox/Coleman FS Rhodes/Coleman Whaddaya think??? Sperm Edwards
Three OT's? I love the idea of loading up on linemen in this draft but a LT prospect and two RT's may be a bit much. 4th round is a little high (to me) for an OT that won't see the field unless there's an injury. Get a guy for that role in round 5-7 or even next year. I'm never that crazy about QB's who's 2nd option/read is always his feet. All other things being equal, a mobile QB would be preferable to an immobile one. But it's a rarity that all other things are equal. If you get it, you've got Steve Young/Steve McNair/Donovan McNabb/early Mark Brunell. Otherwise you've got Rob Johnson/Akili Smith/Ray Lucas. If he resembled the former group in any way he'd be getting drafted in round one (Vince Young).
