It seems the proverbial writing is on the wall for Justin McC

Yup, I'm sure JMac is wetting himself in fear over these two. These are practice squad signings. Williams might stick if he is a monster on ST. Either of them gets in a regular season game at wideout and last year will be a happy memory for us.

Curtis Williams played DB, LB and receiver at Maryland. Had a decent pre-draft workout at pro-day.

" Williams posted a 42-inch vertical jump and a 4.39 in the 40 at 205 pounds, making him a viable option for teams looking for a wide receiver, safety or special teams player."

Was signed as UDFA by the Ravens. Never played, was picked up by the Giants and went to NFLE. Sounds like a good athlete, but pro-day numbers often seem inflated.

Hill is out of Ole Miss this year. UDFA cut by the WR weak Titans.

Mario Hill WR Hill (5-11

no dom I don't mean by any stretch of the imagination that these two guys are anything more than camp-on-fodder-but,the report states he is seemingly down mentally-hey if my band starts auditioning guitarists I'm gonna start getting suspicious ya know what I mean?

They cut two stiff wide receivers before they signed these two. Mobley and Fayton. Did JMac get all excited and dance a jig? His mental outlook is meaningless to me, he can get open and catch better than anybody on the team except Coles. This team needs all the options it can get on O.

It seems they sign every WR that gets cut lately.

Williams actually might have some upside. He's a top notch athlete and expected to be a decent tackler. Should be able to play specials. Only been a WR since sometime in his Jr year. He's a project, but has a shot on the practice squad.

When you have 4 QBs getting "equal time" you probably need a ton of WRs to deal with all the practice BS.

<A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl">New York Jets RB Curtis Martin (knee) said he is not considering retirement and added that he is working out as hard as he can. "I am here every single day," said Martin. "I am probably up here more than a lot of the other players because I am doing extra work." Martin said he is working out in hopes of playing this year, but would not talk about the condition of his knee. He did say that he has not had another surgery and has no plans to have any more surgeries on the knee before he returns. "I don't know what exactly will happen," Martin said. "I just keep preparing to be my best. It is what it is. Obviously I have missed some training camp, but I can't do anything about what I missed, but when I get back, I get back and I will take it from there."

Jets | Coleman must establish himself before he is named starter

Wed, 9 Aug 2006 15:12:22 -0700

<A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl">New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini said that if SS Erik Coleman (appendectomy) comes back and performs better than the other contenders at the strong safety position, then he would be the starter. "One of the things I told you guys is that nobody has a lock on the starting job and I think that we've got a great amount time here in training camp for Erik or any of the other players coming off injury to re-establish their position or to establish their position," Mangini told the media Wednesday, Aug. 9.

"He needs to keep developing in terms of being a technician, understanding where his help is, and understand where he fits in with the defense. Once he understands that element of it and combines it with his natural ability, I think that he's got great upside."

"I'm not curious about that," Mangini said. "I'm curious about how those guys block for all the quarterbacks. I honestly would much prefer that none of the quarterbacks get hit. I really don't want any of them to get hit."

<A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl">New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini said DL Dewayne Robertson has performed well at the different techniques. "He's really embraced getting better as a technician and I've been pleased with his work ethic at practice," said Mangini.
