madmike1
WAY WAY WAY overpaid. What the hell is seattle thinking? A first round pick + this inflated contract....
Sperm Edwards
pretty much the same thing we offered though. In theory, pre-season, Seattle was expected to have a late 1st-rd pick (25-30) and the Jets were expected to have an early 2nd-round pick (35-40). Otherwise, we offered about the same $. Glad it went down this way. Branch is not worth >$6M/yr and we almost paid it. In addition to his positives (particularly his great SB game): - zero seasons over 1000 yards - zero seasons over 5 TD's - zero seasons over 80 receptions - one 16 game season - one season with >900 yards - one season with >60 receptions Now Brady may spread the ball around all sorts of ways. But you do not pay a receiver this much with those #'s. Now throw into the mix that he sat out all training camp and has zero reps with his new QB entering week 2 of the season.
