The deadline for restricted free agents to sign offer sheets is April 20. The Jets' interest in Gay could have been geared toward next season in the form of a recruiting visit, as Gay is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2007 season http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2007/04/11/hang_time_for_sauerbrun/ Glad they didn't give him an offer.
