A league source tells us that the Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots are close to working out a trade for cornerback Duane Starks. In return, the Cards would get New England's third-round pick. The teams also would flip-flop their fifth-round selections in the upcoming draft, a benefit for the Pats, who draft at the bottom of the round. The deal, we're told, hinges on whether Starks will re-do his contract. A few years ago he was considered in the upper echelon of CBs. Won a SB with Baltimore. Then went to Arizona and his career got lost in the luggage. He's been mediocre for a few years now, but has pedigree. If BB thinks he's a reclamation project and he's right, it would be a steal. If he can play passably, the last pick of the 3rd and upgrading our own 5th isn't much to pay. If he keeps playing like he did this year, it would be a bad move.
