Mets Trade Schoenweis to D-Backs

The Mets have traded Scott Schoeneweis to the D’Backs for RHP Conor Robertson.

The 27–year-old Robertson was 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA in nine games with Arizona this past season.

Robertson is 29-13 with a 2.82 ERA in 217 career-minor league games, during which he struck out 382 batters in 305 innings.

At the outset of this offseason, the Mets spoke of how they needed to change the face of their bullpen. On Friday, they completed that face-lift. In dealing unpopular lefty Scott Schoeneweis to Arizona for righthander Connor Robertson, the Mets expunged the last bullpen scapegoat from the collapses of the past two seasons. Schoeneweis took the loss in the Shea Stadium finale Sept. 28, giving up an eighth-inning homer to Wes Helms as the Mets suffered their second straight collapse out of the playoffs.

The Mets gave Arizona $1.6 million to help pay Schoeneweis' $3.6-million salary.

Meanwhile, for those hoping the Mets will change the face of their everyday lineup, Friday provided evidence that they're not thinking much about that. The Phillies signed run-producing outfielder Raul Iba
