Irish Jet
He didn't impress me. Got penalized several times and it seemed like Mario was flying around everywhere. He made some tackles against the run but that was it. He couldn't get to Sanchez at all.
124
Then who do you consider elite? Nnamdi? Finnegan? Brandon Flowers? Nnamdi & Finnegan at this point are the only elite corners in the game, with Revis coming in close.
The Troll
D'Brick absolutely shut down Mario Williams in the passing game. He was a non-factor which is amazing considering he's dominated almost everyone in front of him over the last 2 years. Brick is elite. I've said that all along. Our entire offensive line is amazing. Mario was flying around everywhere. Just because he didn't give up a sack didn't mean he handled him.

hoping4ASuperBowl
Yes I do. So do others as well. Did you watch Jets Post Game Live tonight on SNY after the game? Notice who Adam Schien mentioned before Darrelle Revis? I'll wait and see how Finnegan does against A Johnson or R Moss to call him better than Revis. 124
It's the truth. Haven't we done this before? With that crappy CB of ours? If you think D'Brick is elite, you're out of your mind. You're one of only maybe three people on this board who would say such thing and I would guarentee you that no NFL analyst would come close to saying that. He is good, at best. Far from elite. Do you remember his first two seasons? 10 and 13 sacks allowed in each? Yeah, real elite. My ass.

The Troll
Nnamdi & Finnegan at this point are the only elite corners in the game, with Revis coming in close. What about Flowers? Does he need another year too? 86 targets last year, no TDs given up. Pretty great for a rookie on the Chiefs. Surprising stat: Terrence McGee gave up 1 TD in 108 targets. WTF? Irish Jet
When was the last time anyone made Brick their bitch? Out of curiosity. You guys really do underestimate how often even the best of LT's get absolutely taken apart by the premiere rushers in this league. Over the last season, it just hasn't happened D'Brick. He's as good as ANY player in pass protection.

You're kidding me, right? Do YOU watch the games? If anyone has an agenda, it sure as **** isn't me. What agenda? I just presented you with the facts. Have you ever heard ANYONE outside of people on a message board call D'Brickashaw Ferguson an elite Left Tackle in this league? I highly doubt it. Do you just like to ignore the fact that he let up double digit sacks in his 1st and 2nd season? Alan Faneca came to town, a Pro Bowl and All Pro Guard, and his game has gotten better. Really, it's no secret as to why, and that's because he has a veteran like Faneca to help him out. When it comes to Revis, his rookie season was average. I was THRILLED when we drafted him, thought it was an amazing move, still do, and I think we can honestly call him an elite Cornerback after this season, if he continues to prove it. However, after only one season as a full time starter, I'm not ready to "crown his ass". After this year, I'll be ready to do so, if he keeps it up. He's on his way. 124
Well whoever was covering Holmes and Ward clearly done an "elite" job. Oh but he picked off a deflected Hail Mary. WHAT A BEAST! Yes, because your boy Roethlisberger wasn't avoiding pressure and wasn't throwing the ball 8 seconds after the snap. Newsflash: You could be Deion Sanders and if the QB has more than 5 seconds, he's going to hit whoever the hell he wants. Finnegan actually wasn't the one getting burned, but I thought I'd just throw that out there. It's a thing called rotating receivers to different sides of the field. Finnegan stayed on his side, while Holmes and Ward moved around. I'm sure NFL N will replay the game for you so you can actually watch him. Yeah, pick out Jamie Dukes of the THOUSANDS of people on TV, Radio. You know, you can't pick out someone like Pat Kirwan or something like that, nah. Typical. Faneca a turn style? Get real. If you think some of the credited sacks on Faneca in 08 didn't have anything to do with Ferguson, you really do need to rewatch some games. Can you tape games over there? Not sure how it works. I'd invest in some tapes.

The Troll
And Vernon Gholston had more tackles than Bart Scott... And? Was D'Brick blocking Gholston or something? Completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. You said D'Brick shut down Mario. I said Mario was flying around the field, he just didn't get a sack. The numbers support my argument. As did my eyes when I watched the ****ing game.
124
And Vernon Gholston had more tackles than Bart Scott... Eh, according to NFL.com. Scott was definitely in on more than 2 freakin' tackles. There is no way he had that few. I counted at least 3 in the 1st quarter.

124
I'm sorry, I'm not going to suck every single Jet players dick because we had an outstanding day. D'Brick is still average and Revis, is VERY VERY good, on the verge of being in the elite catagory of Cornerbacks in the NFL, a very select few. And I'm sorry that I'm not going to ignore the FACT that Jenkins, Scott & Harris' constant pressure helped Revis a lot, either.
SMC
this thread is bad mojo No, it isn't. Sanchez learned more in this 1 game than he would have learned in a full season on the bench. QBs learn by playing. Coaches protect their job security by keeping a rookie QB on the bench.

Irish Jet
He did? Again, like you asked me, do YOU watch the games? Mark Sanchez wasn't exactly standing back there untouched. He was moving around, a lot, making room with his feet. A lot of pressure was coming from D'Brick's side. You'll find taht it wasn't coming from D'Bricks side at all. It was coming because your boy Alan Fanexa was getting beaten, not D'Brick.

Irish Jet
Ok, so in order to be ELITE in your book, you only have to be good in one phase of the game. Gotcha. As a left tackle, pretty much. He'll rarely go up against a player as versatile as Williams so his run blocking will rarely be tested to that level. He's elite in one phase of the game and average in another but because pass protection is SO much more important for a LT who will primarily go against pass rush specialists I do believe it makes him elite. Jake Long is the opposite of Brick. Great in run blocking. Average at best in pass protection. I know which one I'm taking.
