I don't get it. I just don't understand why no major media outlet has picked up on the fact that Darrelle Revis and Vincent Jackson have the same representation.

I can't speak for Chargers fans, but as a Jets fan it is all too obvious that these two are troublemakers.

The Jets and their fans have Super Bowl aspirations this season, but those hopes have been, not necessarily spoiled, but dampened by the prolonged holdout of star cornerback Darrelle Revis.

Similarly, the San Diego Chargers, who have been perennial contenders over the past decade or so, are looking at a season without their best wide receiver, Vincent Jackson.

The link between these two fanbases is the representatives of their disgruntled players, Neil S. Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod.

The Jets have a history with these two. Both Pete Kendall and Chris Baker, players represented by Schwartz and Feinsod, have been malcontents in previous years. It has become quite obvious to Jets fans that these two use a holdout as a weapon of mass destruction.

Just ask the Falcons about Roddy White, another Schwartz and Feinsod client who held out last year.

The only problem is, it seems the dynamic duo has bite off more than they can chew this season.

Vincent Jackson is a San Diego Charger. Chargers G.M. AJ Smith does does not, and never has, seemed like the person to negotiate from a position of weakness.

But Smith is the least of Schwartz and Feinsod's problems...their other holdout, Darrelle Revis, has three years left on his contract!

The fact that the media are either clueless or scared to mention that Schwartz and Feinsod are representing both of these holdouts speaks greatly to why they are siding with Revis in his holdout with the Jets.

But the fact remains that Darrelle Revis is 100 percent in the wrong during this entire fiasco. Sure, the Jets said they would like to give him a raise on his $1 million salary for this season...but they NEVER said anything about giving him an historically large contract (reportedly the Revis camp is asking for 10 years at $160 million).

But that's a lie. Because the Jets are offering Revis an historically large contract (10 years at $120 million). The fact that he won't accept it just an indication of how out of touch Schwartz and Feinsod are with the market.

Consider for a moment that Vincent Jackson is asking for five years and $50 million total. That's a contract that elite wide receivers such as Andre Johnson (six years and $60 million in his recent extension) get. Not guys like Vincent Jackson.

But that's par for the course for Schwartz and Feinsod, who want Revis to be paid more than Nmandi Asomugha. The problem is, Asomugha was given a ridiculous contract by the Oakland Raiders, equal to what a quarterback is usually paid.

Does Revis deserve to be paid like a top cornerback? Certainly. But are Schwartz and Feinsod continually playing games that they shouldn't? Of course.

As of midnight tonight (now yesterday) Jackson has to sit out until at least week six, as per NFL rules. Teams that were potentially interested in him (Seahawks and Rams), have determined that Schwartz and Feinsod's asking price is too great.

Similarly, the Jets have not shown an inclination to budge on their insistence that Revis take a contract more in line with the second highest paid cornerback (Champ Bailey) who earns $12.5 million per year.

Now, there is a wild card to watch in all of this. Of course there has to be a "top dog" in the NFL. That top dog is Peyton Manning, who is due for a new contract.

Part of the problem in this entire Schwartz and Feinsod mess is that their is no indication of what the top player in the league is worth. Unfortunately, that situation will not change for some time.

The Colts will not negotiate a new contract for Manning right now, especially with the new CBA being nothing more than phantasmagoria at this point.

And I'm guessing, without the salary for the league's top player being set, all of these contract holdouts will continue to be great question marks.

Simply put, until a precedent is set with the new CBA, value for specific positions cannot be finalized.

Until then Schwartz and Feinsod can continue to be stubborn, but I doubt it will get them anywhere, much to the chagrin of Chargers and Jets fans.

Interesting article. The longer this goes on the more it seems like Revis is less involved with it and just relying on terrible advice from his agents. These guys have shown time and time again that they are out of touch and unreasonable and have hurt several clients and teams with their 'methods'.
