Start there In Dierkings defense (i cant believe i said that) but he has been lobbying for Heckert for quite a while, AND, if you read between the lines he is calling for Herms head also cause everyone knows a new GM will want his own coach. Scott Dierking Posted October 25, 2005 Share Posted October 25, 2005 First thing you look for in a GM is management STYLE and PHILOSOPHY. look at the organization that he came from. Look how they operate. What part did he play. Next, as far as a GM, I look at how he works with scouts and makes decisions regarding scouting evaluations. Is he involved? Is he a delegator. What is his draft history and philosophy. I can get all of these reads on Heckert. Does that make him a shoe-in? Heck no. But Tannenbaum? What do we know about him beyond that he works numbers?
