  1. Woody nicknamed his son Brick. Smart disciplined LT. Of course Woody is going to want to pick another Brick. good pick consistent with how other teams were viewing the players. I would trade our 2025 first for a high 2024 second.
  2. JD now needs to trade into the second round for a WR.
  3. I am looking at Mocks and it makes no sense for the Falcons to take Byron Murphy at 8 for the Bears to take Rome at 9. Trade up JD.
  4. The OTs will go higher than Tony has them ranked.
  5. If I am JD I am taking Odunze/Bowers at 10 but then trading up as much as possible to take a Mims/Guyton/Paul after that.
  6. Nice to see that the Jets may be willing to pass on an OT so they can continue with the Golden Boys this year.
  7. I think Rodgers votes with his body and says Fashanu because he is more likely to step in for Tyron Smith when he goes down and protect him. He could also saw Bowers because he will come in pro ready and can catch dump off passes.
  8. These fast tight end types do well on college because they are too big and fast for kids who are mostly going to work at Walmart after graduation. the WRs on the other hand often do not have QBs who can get them the ball, so you don’t know how they are going to do in the NFL. that is where we are on Bowers. No player who looks like Bowers has ever been picked at 10 or has proven worthy of the 10 pick. He will be good, but not game breaking. He will move the chains, but the 210 pound 4.4 safeties will prevent him from scoring touchdowns
  9. Upon further reflection, if Odunze is gone I can see the Jets taking JC Latham. He can back up basically 4 OL positions. As someone else has said, there is a 99% chance that the Jets OL will suffer injuries somewhere. Even if JC Latham does not initially start, the chances of him starting 12+ games in 2024 is very, very high. I don’t think he is another Becton.
  10. I don’t disagree, but Fashanu is backing up maybe both tackles, possibly only LT. Fautanu who can back up the entire line, and then take over LG, seems like a good move with a trade down a little.
  11. The Jets need offensive line depth, but 10 is too high to take offensive line depth. Fashanu is graded the same as Broderick Jones last year. Almost exact. With small hands. BJ did not kill it last year, and he may not be a LT. I don’t know whether Fashanu is saving the day if Smith goes down. I think Carter Warren is first man up. We don’t know AVT’s story. Do we want to buy him for next year at $20mm? Fuaga can fill in for him and eventually move to RT. So he is backing up 2 spots. Fautanu is not a player you pick at 10-he is 15-20. From JD’s perspective, if he picks an. OL and he does not contribute meaningfully, he looks pretty bad. Odunze and Bowers will contribute meaningfully year 1. There will be an OL available in the 3rd round who can be a better back up than Mitchell and Newman. Seems like a no brainer to me. If we trade down, we will get a good developmental OL in round 1 and a WR who makes a difference in round 2/3, like a Morley or Pearsall. A draft of Fautanu and Pearsall, with a Zach Minter in the 3rd round, would be perfect to me.
  12. When Rodgers leaves so will the OTs, Garrett and Breece. Woody will first draft another Qb.
  13. Hubris is very, very powerful. Jonathan Kraft oozes it. The Jets can actually do very well in their division. Miami is no where for red blooded athletes to live smartly, the Patriots are going to run themselves into the ground, and the Bills will follow the path of Cam Newton, who Josh Allen was modeled after (by the same people in Carolina). Drake Maye at 3 will destroy a weak franchise. Let the Vikings and his HS coach, Josh McCown, someone else with different hubris, take him.
  14. This is a “generational” OT draft. It would be a shame if the Jets did not leave it with a OT for the future. The Jets are going to start two 33 year old OTs. One gets hurt a lot. I think that means we need 4 starting caliber OTs. We have 3. Carter Warren is part of the solution and will start if Smith or Moses gets hurt. Mitchell needs to be upgraded. My vote would be someone in the late first round, maybe later, who is better than Mitchell. Mitchell will end up on the practice squad and back on the 53 later in the season and next year. I think practically Mitchell could get upgraded in the 3rd round. The Jets will need a swing OG/OT. AVT could be that. Maybe it’s Fautanu. Having both AVT and Fautanu allows the Jets two solid starting Gs that can play T in a pinch. Drafting OL in the first round in this draft is the right way to build a team. I think Brock Bowers wins us games in 2024 if the OTs stay healthy. That is what JD and Woody will do. Woody is making this pick, and Woody is all in 2024.
