  1. The only person mentioned here that I do not want is Bowers. He's a YAC guy, and if the Jets draft a playmaker it has to be someone who can stretch the field and stop the defenses from rolling everyone up close. That is not Bowers. And, please, no more talk about Bakhtiari. The guy is the poster child for the IR. This is a deep draft for WRs and OTs. If the guy(s) you want aren't there, trade down and try to get an additional 2nd.
  2. IMHO, at this point in his career, the only thing you can count on with him is taking up a spot on the IL. No thanks.
  3. I hear the need for a strategic plan, but the reality in the NFL is that if you don't make the 2 year plan, you're not there for the 5 or 10 year plan. It's better to revise the 2 year plan every year.
  4. First of all, my best wishes for Lauren and your family. I know what kind of stress it puts on the whole family (I am the cancer patient) but it sounds like you are managing all the changes well. I've done whole house moves 5 times. Some have been long distance, some short. Although we have been in this house for 20 years, some lessons are just burnt in to your brain. I also packed up my sons house for a long distance move after he went to Florida. First of all, my circumstances are surely different than yours, but I will never move myself again. Even if you have help, it puts a toll on the mind and body that I am just not willing to deal with. If you decide to clean out things before you move, you have to be absolutely brutal about what stays and what goes. If not you won't get rid of much. We started going through stuff 6 months ago and we are not even close to an endpoint. It might be easier to move everything and make the decision as you unpack the boxes (which are a fortune to buy if you have to). Plus, I think that would get you out of the old house faster and perhaps pay off the bridge loan earlier. In any case, I wish you all the best of luck in your new home.
  5. I'm rooting for a Bills-Lions Super Bowl, but, honestly, now that the Dulphins and Cowpies are gone, I am happy.
  6. If they don't shore up the O-line, they will destroy any young QB (and Rodgers) they pick. If they pick a WR, it has to be someone who can run by people. GW is a great possession receiver, but he's not really a deep threat in the NFL. I think that riles out Odunze, and not sure about Nabors. If all the tackles are gone, I'd like to trade down, get a second and a first (minimum) and see where they go from there.
  7. They can't keep cycling GMs and coaches every 3-5 years or no one will want either of these jobs. I would start by replacing all of the current offensive coaching staff. It should be obvious that they do not know how to teach/coach/develop offensive talent. They really need someone like Scarnecchia or Bill Callahan who have demonstrative success in developing offensive lines. And no one named Hackett should ever again be allowed to coach in the NFL. In the draft, the obvious priority should be o-line and a WR who can actually stretch the field. GW is a terrific receiver but he's not running by most CBs. And he can be taken out of a game. as we saw yesterday. As for Rodgers... I don't know the cap rules, but is it treated differently if he retires as opposed to being cut? In any case, I would get rid of his posse (Lazard, Cobb, Turner, etc.) and if he doesn't like it, well, tough sh*t. I think the defense is good, although I soured a bit on Ulbricht yesterday. Why in the world wouldn't you double Waddell all day with Tyreek out? We might as well face it, they are in another rebuild, even if it is only a partial one. we are wasting a championship level defense, which is really the sad thing.
  8. If I wore Jets gear during the Kotite years, I can certainly wear it now. Those years were 10 times worse than the current situation.
  9. I am not disputing the need for a QB, but they had better do something with this awful OL or the results will be the same.
  10. I understand the sentiment, but realistically, who are they going to put in that's better? Not looking at anything for the future, I thought that Zach played well last night. If not for a few ill-timed penalties, they should have won that game. I also though Max Mitchell has a good game against Crosby.
  11. I didn't think the refs were that bad. The only questionable call I saw was the chop block.
  12. Really, what did we expect? They have 4 wins. One by a punt return in OT, and two by miracles at the end of the game that won't happen again in 5 years. What made us think (and I include myself in this) that they are a good team? Yes our defense is excellent, but we only have 2, maybe 3 good players on offense (G. Wilson, Hall and AVT, if we don't play him in Denver again). There are just too many problem here to blame one person. The OL is horrible. The just pass block at all and the aren't many holes in the running game. I'd keep Tippman and AVT and look to replace the rest. Outside of Wilson, the WRs are close to the worst in the league. An almost total flush is needed there. And yes, they need a QB, but no QB could win with this cast of characters. I just don't see them winning more than 1 game the rest of the way, which could cause some firings. I am somewhat ambivalent about that because I remember how bad this team was 3 years ago, but results are results.
  13. Let me ask this: if someone ran up and nailed Hurts as he was reaching for the goal, would he have been flagged for roughing? You damn well know he would have. And I need to understand how it can be a blind side block when Blankenship was looking at Lazard. However the defenseless receiver call in the SF game was a lot more ridiculous than that.
  14. Rightly or wrongly, teams with less talent get called for more penalties. It is a fact of life in the NFL Up until the late 90s though, the QB protection racket wasn't really in effect. It all started with Brady getting hit low and all of a sudden there was a rule passed (even though the Steelers put Carson Palmer out of a playoff game with a low cheap shot... guess Palmer wasn't good enough). Now, if you have a star QB, your OL can do pretty much anything. Yes, these were horrible calls. But, as usual, the vaunted Jets defense just can't come up with a stop when they need one. Just like the end of the Buffalo game, and so many others over the years, they gave up too many ridiculous plays in that last drive. You simply cannot allow a QB to run for a first down when it's 3rd and 25. Where is the pressure in that situation? You've got to make him get rid of the ball early, but they never do. Yes the officiating is horrible. It is affecting the watchability of the games, definitely. But it's not the reason the Jets lost.
