Raiders hire Tony Sparano as offensive line coach

The Associated Press January 23, 2013

ALAMEDA, Calif. - The Oakland Raiders have hired Tony Sparano as an assistant head coach who will work with the offensive line.

Sparano comes to the Raiders after one season as offensive co-ordinator for the New York Jets, who had one of the NFL's worst offences. The Jets ranked 30th of 32 teams in overall offence, and averaged 17.5 points per game.

The hiring was announced Wednesday by head coach Dennis Allen.

Sparano, who will be entering his 30th year coaching, was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins for four years before being fired.

If he's getting paid close to a million bucks per year, going backwards isn't really going backwards at all. Considering how bad he's been at all his positions lately.

If you suck at your job so bad that you get fired for being one of the worst in the league, and you still get hired shortly after being fired and make great money, damn sign me up.
