Actually refs do that all the time. We hear the audio sometimes on NFL films.

That's interesting. Boomer thought it was unethical. I am inclined to agree since penalties can cause dramatic changes in games. So much though for the notion that this was Patriots favoritism. I still wonder though what caused Colon to speak up if it is common place.

Warnings are common during a game esp with DB and recievers holding, hand checking etc. However, per WFAN and Willie Colon,this warning was done before the game, during warm ups. 

This equates to coaching and is not legal.
