The 49ers didn’t want to hold onto their coaching staff from last season, but they seem to have liked what they saw from the Oakland staff when the Raiders beat them 24-13 in December.

They’ve brought former Raiders defensive coordinator Jason Tarver on board to coach the team’s outside linebackers and now Adam Schefter of ESPN reports they’ve also come to an agreement with the guy who filled in as head coach for the final 12 games of the season.

According to Schefter, Tony Sparano, who went 3-9 in those 12 games as the team’s interim coach, is joining Jim Tomsula’s staff as the tight ends coach. Sparano was the offensive line coach with the Raiders before Dennis Allen was fired and he coached tight ends at earlier stops in his NFL coaching career.

The 49ers haven’t hired offensive or defensive coordinators at this point, but the additions of Sparano and Tarver give them some experienced hands on the coaching staff of their first-year head coach.
