kelly
The NFL’s annual supplemental draft has been a quiet affair in recent years, so it may have escaped your notice that this year’s edition will be held on July 12. There are only two players eligible this year, so it may well escape your notice next week as well. Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout.com reported that Georgia Military College defensive end Tavares Bingham and Western New Mexico running back Marques Rodgers are this year’s entries and the league has confirmed that is the case. Bingham never played last season after transferring from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College while Rodgers ran for 1,283 yards and caught 61 passes. The supplemental draft is for players whose eligibility has changed since the NFL Draft in April. Teams that make a selection have to forfeit the corresponding pick, e.g. their third-round pick, in the next year’s draft. The last player selected in a supplemental draft was tackle Isaiah Battle, who went to the Rams in the fifth round in 2015 and has yet to play in a regular season game. Wide receiver Josh Gordon was a Browns second-round pick in 2012 and Terrelle Pryor was picked by the Raiders as a quarterback in the third round of the 2011 supplemental draft. > https://www.yahoo.com/sports/two-players-eligible-next-week-203651658.html
kelly
Georgia Military College DL Tavares Bingham and Western New Mexico RB Marques Rodgers are eligible for the July 12 NFL Supplemental Draft, a league spokesman confirmed to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.NFLDraftScout's Rob Rang first reported the news.Rodgers rushed for 1,283 yards and 10 touchdowns on 217 carries for WNMU in 2015, and caught 61 passes as one of the top offensive threats in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. He was academically ineligible to play for WNMU last year, and entered the supplemental draft with one year of college eligibility remaining, according to the school. Bingham (6-4, 290) exhausted his junior college playing eligibility after the 2015 season. He redshirted one year and played another at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, then transferred to GMC for his final junior college season. Academic problems prevented him from signing with a four-year school for 2016, per GMC coach Bert Williams. The supplemental draft includes players whose draft eligibility status has changed since the regular draft in April. Teams that select a player in the supplemental draft lose a draft choice in the corresponding round of the next year's NFL draft. Last year, six players were available in the supplemental draft, but none were selected. The last player selected in the supplemental draft was Clemson OL Isaiah Battle, a fifth-round choice of the Rams in 2015 who has not appeared in an NFL regular-season game and is currently with the Chiefs. > http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000818313/article/two-players-eligible-for-2017-nfl-supplemental-draft

Rob Moore was a pretty good player. Brett would have probably busted here, like he did in Atlanta, unless we also brought in a really good HC to develop him. Plus, we got Browning Nagle who had that really good game. Plus, if they loved him so much, why didn't they just trade up in the 2nd round? Farve didn't bust in Atlanta they had Chris Miller who made the Pro Bowl in 91 and when Ex Jet Ron Wolf Packers offered a 1st for Farve in 92 they said fine.. Ron Wolf joined the Packers in 1992 as their new general manager, which was great news for Favre. Wolf was enamored of Favre one year prior while with the Jets, holding the position of assistant to general manager Dick Steinberg. In fact, he had Favre rated as the No. 1 player in the 1991 draft. Wolf wanted Favre badly in New York -- to the point he desperately tried to trade up ahead of the Falcons. Landing Favre was especially difficult for the Jets because they didn’t have a first-round pick, but they were still within striking distance in the second round. New York, holding the 34th pick, failed to move up a few spots to get ahead of the Falcons at No. 33, forcing Wolf to watch his quarterback go one pick before his team went on the clock. If the Jets had a first-round pick, or were selecting even one slot ahead of the Falcons, history may have been very different. He may have gone on to have a long, successful career in New York, changing the course of the NFL forever. Glanville, in 2010, said the results would have been similar to his time in Atlanta, though: "If I would have traded him to New York, nobody to this day would have known who Brett Favre ever was." Don't forget, he got to go to Holmgren, with what they were building out there. He would not have had the same success with freaking Bruce Coslet. Marino on the Jets. 100% translatable. He'd have been a stud, and I'd have 5 #13 Jerseys in my closet.
chirorob
Now, I have no idea who those 2 players are. If the Jets liked on of them, and used a 7th on them, so be it. Losing a 7th rounder next year is not going to set the team back. Actually, I don't think anything can set them back any further. (no, I don't think they'll do anything)
