Report: Bills' Henry could soon be on way to Arizona

Feb. 23, 2005

Compiled From Wire Reports

The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly closing in on a deal for Buffalo Bills running back Travis Henry.

According to the Rochester Democrat and Journal the Bills would send the disgruntled Henry to Arizona in exchange for left tackle L.J. Shelton.

Henry, who topped 1,300 yards in 2002 and 2003, lost his starting job last season to up-and-coming Willis McGahee and made his feelings known that he had no desire to be a back up in 2005. He has one year left on his current contract.

Shelton was the Cardinals' 1999 first-round draft pick, but he fell out of favor with coach Dennis Green last season. He's under contract through 2008 at $3 million per season.

Henry would be a great pick up fot arizona,he is a franchise back who is capable of 1,200 and 10td's a season.

Yep.

And, imagine that offense in Arizona if only they could find at least a little bit more then average Quarterback to go with Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, Travis Henry, Freddie Jones (if re-signed) and Bryant Johnson.

All Arizona would have to work on now is getting a litte more help in the secondary, along with getting a franchise QB.

This is a great deal for the Bills, actually. Shelton, while he's not great, is a definite upgrade for them at LT. Denny Green is out of his gourd for dumping linemen over personal dislikes. Seriously, Denny. Get a grip.

As for Henry, he's an over-rated back who is dumb as a stump and unless he's going into an offense where it's "run right" or "run left," he's useless.

TS is correct, you never give up a tackle for a back--even if the back is a better player.

Dumbasses of the decade go to the Redskins for giving up a franchise CB for a RB [-X

RB's are everywhere to be found--OT's; QB's and CB's are like gold.

Green is a total moron.....The NFL didn't want bad press, so they pushed the stoodge Bidwell family to hire this clown....

Remember 1999?

Michigan State coaches told the Vikings not to even use a 7th round pick on Demitrious Underwood, because he was freakin' pyscho..Green forced the Vikings to use a #1 on him, despite Saban's stern warning

99% of the Vikes FO wanted Patrick Kearney...

But Green got McCombs to override the whole front office and took the physco, just to show them he was in charge!

Since that point, no NFL team took him seriously.

Unless Arizona can finally get some QB that is halfway decent they still are not going to turn that franchise around. The one thing that is in their favor is their division is not that strong for them to compete in.

faba, you're correct....

Green is a clown 2x: He had plenty of WR's, but no QB going into the 2004 draft...

But he picks a WR

Did we mention Larry Fitzgerald Sr. is a Minnesota sportswriter and one of Green's best friends =P~

He's a joke...but Arizona is always gonna stink anyway, so it's par for the course

Ya gotta root for the cardinals, I mean they are the worst franchise by far. I want to see them succeed (not superbowl success but winning games and even making playoffs success). I would love to see them make the playoffs. Its good for the NFL when a perrenial doormat changes its stripes.

I love the jets but I also like to see the underdogs win a few..
