Road teams struggles in Week 1

In the 16 games played on Week 1, 11 were won by the road team. Even 2 of the teams that were victorious at home (New England, Jacksonville) fell behind by double digits early on and had to come back to win, and several of the road winners (Philadelphia, Atlanta, Baltimore, San Diego, Chicago, Cincincinnati) won in blowouts of at least 13 points or more. Is there any explanation for the phenomena, or was it just random chance?

Either way, it will probably balance out starting next week. Which means the Jets have an automatic mathematical edge heading into a HUGE week 2 home game against the Patriots.

The Jets have an automatic edge as the home team because the road teams outplayed the home teams? That's like saying that Rob Deer was "due" when he came to the plate in 1991 because he hadn't gotten a hit in his last 5 at bats.

I said mathematically they do. In every other context, it's just another game, and nothing is decided. The Jets will head into the game as the underdogs and rightfully so.
