Here is a wierd schedule for you.

In 1973 Jets opened the season with 6 road games.

+--------+-------------------------------+----------+---------+

| Week | Opponent | Result | Score |

+--------+-------------------------------+----------+---------+

| 1 | at Green Bay Packers | L | 7-23 |

| 2 | at Baltimore Colts | W | 34-10 |

| 3 | at Buffalo Bills | L | 7- 9 |

| 4 | at Miami Dolphins | L | 3-31 |

| 5 | at New England Patriots | W | 9- 7 |

| 6 | at Pittsburgh Steelers | L | 14-26 |

| 7 | Denver Broncos | L | 28-40 |

| 8 | Miami Dolphins | L | 14-24 |

| 9 | New England Patriots | W | 33-13 |

| 10 | at Cincinnati Bengals | L | 14-20 |

| 11 | Atlanta Falcons | L | 20-28 |

| 12 | Baltimore Colts | W | 20-17 |

| 13 | at Philadelphia Eagles | L | 23-24 |

| 14 | Buffalo Bills | L | 14-34 |

My guess is that since the Mets made the playoffs and went to the World Series that year the forced the Jets to be on the road the first 6 weeks of the sesaon.

The Jets opened the 1974 in KC with a 24-16 loss.

Jets started the season 1-7 before winning their last 6 in a row.

My bad, I mis-read, it was the 1st time they opened up their season in KC. #-o

Still...something to think about.
