flgreen
Upon further review, forget Douglas July, 21, 2010 Jul 21 10:36 AM ET By Rich Cimini There has been speculation in recent days (including some from this blog) about the possibility of the New York Jets re-signing DE Marques Douglas once the "Final Eight" restriction is lifted on Thursday. That would seem to make sense, right? Well, folks, forget about it. According to a source, the Jets will not be re-signing Douglas in the near future. I suppose it could happen in training camp, if a defensive lineman gets hurt or if the young players aren't cutting it, but Douglas is not on the team's frontburner as of now. That means the defensive line will look like this: Kris Jenkins, Sione Pouha, Shaun Ellis and Mike DeVito are the top four, with Vernon Gholston, Rodrique Wright, Ropati Pitoitua and Matt Kroul in reserve. Don't forget, Jason Taylor and Bryan Thomas can play end in four-man alignments.
#27TheDominator
Don't forget, Jason Taylor and Bryan Thomas can play end in four-man alignments. They can do it and Pace can't? Taylor is the only one that was ever successful as a 4-3 DE. I didn't notice it during the season, but it seems like the guy must be done. He was a low priced starter on the #1 D in football and doesn't get a nibble? We have to trust the FO that this guy and Faneca are done and if they are right there is hope to make big strides even in the units where the team was strong last year.
