Kris Jenkins tells the Giants that the Jets are "here to stay"

On Thursday, Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas said that his teams wants to "send a message" to the Jets regarding the team that still rules the roost in New York.

On Friday, Jets defensive tackle Kris Jenkins, one of the stars of a raucous goal-line drill during the premiere episode of Hard Knocks, responded.

"If that's how they feel, that's how they feel," Jenkins said, per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. "You have to understand this: My job is to play football. My job is not to report the news or comment on it. Now when I retire, if y'all want to pay me for that, hey fine. It's cool for them to feel that way. But we're here to stay. And that's it."

We're not quite sure what that means, given that the Jets have been "here" for 50 years. Maybe Jenkins will explain it when he retires.

Meanwhile, the Jets and Giants face off Monday night in the first non-game game played at the new Meadowlands Stadium.
