1) Raiders denied permission- On Wednesday it was reported that the Oakland Raiders were denied permission to interview New York Jets secondary coach Dennis Thurman for their vacant defensive coordinator position.  This should come as no surprise as Thurman is a valued member of Rex Ryan’s defensive staff.  Another successful year for Gang Green and Rex may have a hard time keeping his staff intact.

2) Jets re-sign Cole and Dixon- On Wednesday the New York Jets re-signed defensive back Marquice Cole and defensive tackle Marcus Dixon.  I think the Jets made a smart move getting Cole signed as he played very well on special teams and started to make an impact in nickel and dime situations.

3) Jets tipped plays- Just when you thought you were ready to move on from the Pittsburgh loss, word comes out that the Jets may have tipped their plays on their crucial goal line series.  The NFL Network “Playbook” show broke down the series and showed how right tackle Wayne Hunter’s stance tipped off the Steelers defense.  Hunter’s two point stance quickly revealed that Gang Green was going to pass on third down, and the play was easily defended by LaMarr Woodley and the Steelers.  Does it ever end Jets fans?  This game remains a tough one to swallow.

4) 2011 regular season opponents announced- Now that the offseason has begun here is a quick reminder of the opponents that will be on the Jets schedule.

Home: Patriots, Dolphins, Bills, Chiefs, Chargers, Jaguars, Giants, Cowboys

Road: Patriots, Dolphins, Bills, Broncos, Raiders, Ravens, Eagles, Redskins

Note: For those of you that have not been down to Baltimore for a game, it is a great time.  The stadium is located by the Inner Harbor which offers a variety of restaurants and attractions not to mention some fun nightlife.

5) Jets sign 18 to future contracts- On Monday the New York Jets announced that they have signed 18 players to future/reserve contracts.

thats a wicked schedule we're playing next year.

Home: Patriots, Dolphins, Bills, Chiefs, Chargers, Jaguars, Giants, Cowboys

Road: Patriots, Dolphins, Bills, Broncos, Raiders, Ravens, Eagles, Redskins

The only "easy" games are going to be the Bills * 2, Broncos and Skins

Look at the home schedule. KC may end up coming back to earth, and the Jags aren't great, but those other games are going to be TOUGH.

I think this year's schedule was much tougher.

AFC North >>>>> AFC West

NFC North >>>>> NFC East

Every year is different than the last. Just because they look tough now, things change. It's not who you play, it's when you play them.

The Eagles look tough, and should be, but maybe Vick reverts to old Vick. The Raiders are a yo-yo, Phillip Rivers could get hurt. Right now, it's just teams.
