In his time with the Bears, Ballard helped Chicago

draft Pro Bowlers Matt Forte, Johnny Knox, Charles

Tillman, Tommie Harris, Nathan Vasher and Henry

Melton. He was also directly involved in many

notable acquisitions and trades, including the

signings of Brandon Marshall, Michael Bush, Jermon

Bushrod, Martellus Bennett, D.J. Williams and James

Andersen.

Prior to his time with Chicago, Ballard spent seven

seasons as a coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville under

2012 College Football Hall of Fame inductee Head

Coach Ron Harms. Ballard started his Javelinas

coaching career in 1994 coaching the wide receivers.

From 1995-99, he was the secondary coach. In his

final season at Texas A&M-Kingsville, Ballard served

as defensive coordinator. During his time with the

Javelinas, Ballard helped mentor future NFL players

Richard Jones, Karl Williams, Floyd Young and

current Chiefs Defensive Assistant/Secondary Coach

Al Harris. Those Javelinas teams produced firstround

draft pick Jermaine Mayberry, as well.

Ballard played four years of collegiate football at

the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating with

a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1993.

On January 25, 2010, Knox was selected to the NFC roster for the 2010 Pro Bowl, replacing Minnesota's Percy Harvin, who withdrew due to injury concerns. Knox returned four kicks for 103 yards in his Pro Bowl debut

Well, I'll be damned.

Why didn't they list Hester? Was he pounding on the table screaming "Don't draft that guy!!!"?

We requested Ballard today or recently. People are pretty hyped on him.

Whats interesting is us requesting his name now. It means one of the coaches we interviewed may have mentioned him. Very strong candidate.

Or possibly DeCosta or the Vikings guy, even though they declined an interview .

I hope we get him.   Maybe he won't like Dougie , and we get somebody better.      I like Quinn better than Doug Marrone.     In 2013  Rex went 8-8.  Now Marrone is 9-7.   Big deal.

Don't you want an innovative , younger guy who knows both D and O.      I think Marrone is just looking for  dual paychecks.
