NOT kicking the field goal...

What started the mess was calling off the dogs and letting the clock run out at the end of the third...we had them reeling and gassed and let them off the hook , a lot of us were all over it in the game thread as a first guess .

I will agree with what others have said regarding Bowles being a Parcells desciple.

Parcells would have 100% kicked the field goal to make it 22-13. We weren't playing an offensive juggernaut. In fact more than half of their points were off of turnovers (12). But it's like if you go back in time & change one thing, you change everything, so who's to say Decker makes his TD catch? That's why coaches just move on to the next game. I was all for going for it on 4th down but I admit I'm old school & in the back of my head I was thinking, "hmm, 22-13 an entire quarter of football" but then I was like "F*CK YEA!" Go for it!

Then I was sad.

Parcells went for it on fourth a ton.  He also tried HB passes and faked punts.

IRVING, Texas -- Don't expect the Dallas Cowboys to go for
it on fourth down any time soon.

Coach Bill Parcells said Monday that he's giving up on that sort
of risk. The Cowboys failed twice in a 26-10 loss Sunday to the New
York Giants.

His reasoning: He only tries it when he has confidence in his
team and right now he absolutely doesn't.

Down 3-0 from the Giants' 5 in the first quarter, Parcells went
for the lead. He called the first play he ever taught this team, a
simple handoff behind two Pro Bowl linemen on the left side. New
York turned it into a 2-yard loss.

With Dallas unable to make any breaks for itself, Parcells tried
forcing one -- on fourth-and-1 from his own 43, down just six points
with more than 10 minutes left.

A swing pass to fullback Darian Barnes was stopped, prompting
immediate questions about the decision not to punt as well as the
play that was run.
