Well said buddy.

Spermy has nailed quite a few things over the last few months.

Unfortunately, the majority of Jet fans don't agree with him:eek:

Trust me, it will not be business as usual this summer in Hofstra.;)

Unfortunately, the majority of Jet fans saw that we made the playoffs with 9 & 10-win seasons a few times in Herm's & Bradway's 5 years & accept blindly that it was the most that the talent on the team could accomplish. They considered these seasons "successful" ones simply because they were more successful than others. I saw them as wasted opportunities and therefore, taken as a whole, a tragedy.

When you have the shot at a title, you get it or the opportunity is pissed away. You can't keep saying that we're going to build on the success of the prior season. Veterans age. Young players' contracts expire. You don't get chances year after year after year. At some point you have to start over, which is where we are right now.

We had a QB who - while not great - was good enough, a RB tandem that was good enough (Martin+Jordan), an OL that was more than good enough, a WR tandem that was certainly good enough (Coles+Moss+Chrebet), a DL that was good enough (Ellis-Abe-Fergie-DRob/other), LB's that were good enough over the years (Mo, Marvin, Farrior, Vilma, Cowart, Barton), and DB's that were at least as good as the Pats' SB-winning secondary (Glenn/Coleman, DAbe, Barrett, Mickens, Strait, Law, Miller).

Herm's supporters just kept saying we were this or that one person away. The one person away we were was head coach.

Well now it's gone. We tried it Herm's & Bradway's way & they failed with enough talent to win. All that talent, without ever needing a total team overhaul (as most rookie coaches walk into), & Herm couldn't muster a single 11-win season in his 5-year tenure. But he was afforded mulligan excuse after excuse & that opportunity is gone. It's just too bad Herm wasn't fired before the window totally closed like Tampa did with Dungy.

"Of all the words of pen and tongue, the saddest are these: what might have been."

Well there are two new sheriffs in town & let's see what he can do when starting out with far less talent & a much worse cap condition.
