ON HOLD: Ricky Williams and his agent talked with the Dolphins and Argonauts, but no decision was reached.

Another day in the saga of suspended Dolphins running back Ricky Williams came and went without a decision.

Despite phone calls among Williams, agent Leigh Steinberg and the presidents of the Dolphins and Toronto Argonauts, there still was no word on whether Williams will play this season in the Canadian Football League.

''We had talks with all the significant parties in this matter, but we'll probably revisit it [Tuesday],'' said Steinberg, who had a long talk with Argonauts president Keith Pelley.

Pelley described all the things his team might be willing to do for Williams, although he didn't make a formal contract offer.

Steinberg also talked with Dolphins president Bryan Wiedmeier.

Dolphins coach Nick Saban has indicated that he prefers Williams, suspended April 25 by the NFL, not play in Canada but hasn't shut the door on the idea.

The Dolphins have final say on the matter, but the team would like to work out a mutual decision with Williams.

WRIGHT HAS SURGERY

Rookie defensive tackle Rodrique Wright, a seventh-round draft pick, underwent surgery on his right shoulder to repair a torn rotator cuff and is expected to be placed on the physically unable to perform list when the team reports to training camp July 28.

It's unclear how long Wright's recovery will take.

The Dolphins are hoping Wright will be able to practice at some point in the season so they can make a further evaluation.

MURPHY SIGNED

The Dolphins signed wide receiver Frank Murphy after being impressed with his work during the three-day minicamp last weekend.

Murphy, 29, a sixth-round pick by Chicago in 2000, has played parts of three seasons with Tampa Bay and Houston but hasn't appeared in a game since 2003. He has shown return ability in the past.

TURLEY UPDATE

Tight end Kyle Turley, who took part in the Dolphins' minicamp last weekend, is expected to work out for the Kansas City Chiefs next week, according to his agent, Tom Condon.
