The Gun Of Bavaria
There's a movement afoot amongst some sports writers here in Beirut....errrrr Detroit, to convince Brady Quinn to pull a 'John Elway" / "Eli Manning" and advise Detroit to 'not bother drafting him' because if they do he won't sign with them. Their reasoning is that the Detroit Lions franchise has become so pathetic, where losing has become so entrenched into the very fabric of their day to day operations, that it would take a revolution amongst the players combined with public embarrassment for the franchise, to ressurect the team and get them on track. Now Brady Quinn doesn't strike me as being that type of an Elway/Manning-esque Egotistical A-Hole, even if he does play for those asswipes at ND, but do the writers have a point? The Lions are so pathetic, their organization so inept and flacid (I watched Bad Boys II Last Night), that they make the Jets look like perrenial Super Bowl Champs. I mean if you think we have it bad as Jets fans, feel good knowing it could be worse. The Lions have 0 Super Bowl appearances, and one, ONE post-Season win since the MERGER. One! Their last playoff appearance was in 1999. Currently they're on pace for a guarenteed 6th straight season with 10 or more losses, having won only 23 games in the past 6 seasons. Their all time winning percentage, with close to 1000 games played in their history is .473. Currently they have Matt Millen, who is easily one of the most inept GMs in the history of the NFL who has pissed away #1 picks for the last 4 years on such gems as Charles Rogers and Mike Williams, going 3 straight years drafting WRs #1. Add to that an owner, William Clay Ford, who has owned the team forever and treats the Lions like a baseball card collection. The man nas never cared about the team and with his new stadium in place, he no longer has any reason to care if he wins 5 or 15 games. So do the writers have a point? Should a guy like Brady Quinn, who will probably do well in the NFL, tell an inept franchise like the Lions to piss off? Is that what it will take to get a dogcrap franchise like the Lions in gear? CoachTsurfing
I'm not too sure the Lions are smart enough to draft Quinn. They will probably draft another wr and he is suppossed to be fantastic.

L.I.MikeBleedsGreen
Typical friggn' Jets fan. Focusing on meaningless regular season games. Oh yea, that's all Jets fans have, they don't know what the Super Bowl is all about. Nether will the Pats for years to come you run is over tx and you will have to come up with more Material next year for sure.........So think hard or jump ship to another team that looks like they might be going somewhere you sound like you would be a great Saints fan or a texans fan since you live there anyway. this way It will be an easy transition for you

Oh yea, that's all Jets fans have, they don't know what the Super Bowl is all about. I believe (and this can be confirmed by watching/reading a Lamar Hunt obit.) that the Jets actually won the first game ever called a Super Bowl. The Pats didn't win one until 2001 -- 33 years after the Jets. It took the Jets 8 years to win one after they began playing, while it took the Pats 41 years to win. You want to talk about recent struggles, go ahead, but don't act like the Pats were the only team to ever win a Superbowl.
war ensemble
Superbowl III was the first super bowl officially named the "super bowl". The first two "world championships" the word "super bowl" was just used as a nickname, coined by Lamar Hunt.Tx just keeps rambling on. How long 'till you admit you're wrong? JetCane
So do the writers have a point? Should a guy like Brady Quinn, who will probably do well in the NFL, tell an inept franchise like the Lions to piss off? Maybe he wants to be the Shah of Beirut. But as someone mentioned, they're so dumb they'll prolly trade up to secure Calvin Johnson.
