ECURB
You wont notice a difference. Its a marketing ploy. ON a large TV (over 40") you WILL notice a difference... Take a look at this... basically the larger it is... the more pixels... more pixels = better quality...

ECURB
i have a question: does anyone actually understand that chart thing that ecurb keeps showing us? Its a pretty simple chart... The 1080P image is bigger to start out... therefore will look better on most TV's... the 720P image on a 40" TV would not look as good because it would need to be stretched out to fit... Its really a simple concept...

TaborJet
you know, that little weird optical port that no one ever knows what it's for. 6 months ago my friend told me it was toslink, i hooked it up and man it sounds gooooood. http://www.mycablemart.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=656 OK. My HDTV audio is connected with a coax cable, so everything on TV is in 5.1 Dolby Digital. Now, I have Optical inputs on my receiver. However, I have an optical out on my HDTV, AND an optical out on my PS3. Which do I choose for audio on my PS3? I tried both, and I can't seem to get either to work. Apparently, there is some menu feature on my receiver that I can't seem to fix.
JetsMan57
Full 1080p is finally in my house. Picked up Casino Royale, and it looks great. Only thing is, I only have 1 digital input for my receiver, and my HD cable goes into that. So the Blu-Ray is in Pro-Logic II surround, not true Dolby Digital 5.1. Guess my receiver is the weak link now. Also got Call of Duty 3 and MLB 2K7. They look incredible! Does your HDTV support 1080p? Did you have to configure any options on the PS3 to ensure it plays at 1080p? ecurb, you gotta help me out here. I'm having a hard time just swinging the damn bat in MLB 2K7. I'm so used to playing games on the pc. There are 3 different ways to hit in 2K for the PS3. Classic which is just hitting the X button and using the left analog stick to aim your hits. Swing Stick which is holding down teh RIGHT analog stick and releasing it based on teh timing of the pitch, and the Sixaxis which is using your wireless controller and pusing it forward to swing the bat. I believe the default option is swing stick, but I just use classic. Go into VIP settings and check it out. The graphics and player mannerisms in 2K are pretty sweet right? i can only imagine how good it looks on an HD.

There is a "DVD Multi" setting that recognizes the optical input. All is well! Jetman - That is why I spent a couple extra bucks on my HDTV. The Sony SXRD is capable of 1080p. When I play a BluRay DVD and hit the display options on my TV, it tells me what resolution it's playing at....1080p!

Sony's implementation of lycos, it's sxrd line, is fantastic, and with the prices coming down it is a great value. Our tv is 70 inches of jaw dropping hd picture. It is 3 years old but still blows everything away.

Yes, a rear projection LCD microdisplay. The best bet is to look at sonystyle.com to see their current lineup.
