Knicks may tab high school Kid....

The Knicks already have one Seattle high school legend and now they're looking at a second.

Seattle Prep shooting guard Martell Webster, one of only two high schoolers considered lottery material for the June 28 NBA Draft, will work out for the Knicks today in Westchester. Jamal Crawford, whom they signed as a free agent last summer, also is from Seattle.

The Knicks are looking for either a center or wing player, and Webster fits the bill. He's 6-foot-7 and a sensational outside shooter, with a stocky build ready for the NBA. The 18-year-old averaged 28 points and 10 rebounds in his senior year. Gerald Green is the more highly touted high schooler because of his off-the-charts athleticism and he may not fall to No. 8, where the Knicks pick.

"He is the most ready of the high school kids," said one NBA official. "He shoots as effortlessly as any high schooler."

The knock on Webster, according to scouts, is though he's strong, he needs to get in better shape, is suspect on defense and too often settles for jumpers, not having a variety in his game.

If the Knicks go big, Arizona center Channing Frye and Spaniard Fran Vasquez will be considered.

I saw that. If they take CHanning Frye they'll be making a huge mistake. They may as well pray that Gerald Green falls to them, or else take Webster and pray he develops. The Knicks, if thgey have any chance at returning to respectability, need Allan Houston to retire for gynecological reasons so they can get the 70% cap reimbursement and move on. Has there ever been a worse GM in sports than Scott Layden?

Gerald Green over anybody in this draft for the Knicks...unless of course they could trade up for Bogut, but that's not happening.

Hakim Warrick would also be another nice choice for the Knicks, but, we shall see.
