And the Mick won the Triple Crown that year. Not only did he lead all catagories for that award in the American League, but the National League as well...I believe no one has ever done that...not sure about that. I went to bed and left the radio on duriing game 3(it looked like they were gonna get swept), when I heard Leyritz's HR off Wohlers, and then started . Add in O'Neill's game-saving catch and Joe Girardi's triple in the clincher( a great game to attend), 1996 was simply unbelievable. The Yankees, as crazy at it may seem today, were the underdogs. And giving the 1986 Mets their due for taking 2 in Boston, and delaying the happiness of Boston douchebags for another 18 years, until Joe Torre's incompetence became manifest in 2004.
