Sperm Edwards
It appears there are a few contradicting reports of when his contract expired. Some have it down for two years, some five years. KFFL reported it was a two-year deal when he was originally signed. NFLDraftScout also reported that he is was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. In a small blurb, Rich Cimini noted that Kassell was quietly re-signed to a three-year deal. So when the Jets signed him, espn was wrong and the nflpa was wrong? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2404994 http://www.nflpa.org/Resources/ActivePlayerSearch.aspx?id=33483 - I thought these were the same numbers as before. Rotoworld, who is AWESOME at keeping up with player contracts also had him signed through 2010 as part of a 5-year deal in 2006. Incidentally, his salary numbers for the next 3 years are $605K, $745K, and $760K; a $700K/yr average.

All I am saying is that it appears there are two contradicting reports going around.
