The Bears are suffering from Bill Cowher-itis.

They think they can win it all with defense, running game and mediocre QB.

They were very close to doing just that 2 years ago. They have no running game anymore though, Benson cannot be a full time abck. they better hope their Rookie RB can step up.

They also have the worst WR core in the league. By far.

They didn't reach the Super Bowl in 2006 with exactly that or anything. ;-)

Teams have won that way before, its just about finding a QB who won't make mistakes in the big moments, and Rex Grossman isn't that type of Quarterback. He's a gunslinger of sorts, he's going to take risks and make mistakes. He's good for a team with good Offensive talent around him.

Grossman just plain sucks. The Bears are kidding themselves if they think they can win a SB with him or Orton at QB.

Thats what the new trend seems to be... With the exception of the 06 SB.

Steelers and Giants both played that style of game as did the Bears in the 06 season, who made the SB.

I think defenses over the years have learned to defend a west coast style offense against the average and below QB. It's interesting, seems the trend is beginning to revery back to the run n' gun style of offense.

It certainly is. People are beginning to realize you can't win with a sh*t QB anymore.

Bears made the SB in '06 b/c the NFC was hideous. Rex Grossman is a joke. Kyle Orton is garbage.

Yeah, it was mostly run n' gun in the NFL in earlier years also until Bill Walsh introduced the west coast offense and started having major success with it regardless of who his QB was.

I think since then though, defenses have figured out ways to limit the effectiveness of that scheme when going up against an average or below QB (IE, not Brady or Manning).
