Petr Sykora and Pascal Dupuis recorded their first career hattricks as the Pittsburgh Penguins snapped a three-game losing streak with a 9-2 thrashing of the New York Islanders.

Former Islander Miroslav Satan scored a power-play goal and added two assists, defenceman Philippe Boucher recorded his first tally of the season and Evgeni Malkin netted a goal and set up another to increase his league-leading points total to 48.

Captain Sidney Crosby collected three assists, while Jordan Staal, Matt Cooke and blue-liners Alex Goligoski and Rob Scuderi registered two apiece for the Penguins, who eclipsed their season high for goals in a contest. Their previous high came in a 7-6 overtime victory over the Detroit Red Wings on November 11.

Some high scoring games. Rangers lost 8-5, made a good comeback and then let it all unravel within maybe ten seconds.
Rosival and Redden are stealing money. These 2 could be the 2 worst FA signings in NHL history. Old, slow, expensive and totally untradeable. Rangers were not only 0-8 on the power play, but gave up 2 shorthanded goals.

The Rangers may set a record this year for most short handed goals allowed in a season. Rosival is terrible -we gave him what a three year contract-I would have preferred to keep Fydor Tutin.

Redden is absolutely horrid at holding the line on power plays. So many turnovers leading to one vs goalie scenarios make those shorthanded goals. It's embarrassing to watch. We should have the option to not accept power plays or something.
