Jetsfan80
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/steelers/s_750491.html Released Jets receiver Jerricho Cotchery pays visit to Steelers By Scott Brown, PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW Monday, August 8, 2011 Last updated: 9:44 am A week after wooing Plaxico Burress, the Steelers met with another free-agent wide receiver Sunday. Jerricho Cotchery, an eighth-year NFL veteran, visited the Steelers at St. Vincent on what was an off day for the players. Cotchery had been with the New York Jets since 2004, but the 6-foot, 207-pounder became expendable after the Jets signed Burress. The Jets released Cotchery last Thursday at his request. Cotchery, 29, underwent back surgery during the offseason after catching 41 passes for 433 yards and two touchdowns in 2010. The Steelers and Ravens are among a handful of teams interested in Cotchery. The Steelers have been dealing with injury issues at wide receiver since the start of camp. Hines Ward has yet to practice while he recovers from surgery on his left thumb. Emmanuel Sanders is expected to miss at least the next two weeks with a left foot injury. Sanders had surgery in April to correct a minor stress fracture, and he received a bone marrow injection last week after the foot proved slow to heal. Cotchery's best season came in 2007, when he caught 82 passes for 1,130 yards and two touchdowns.
hoping4ASuperBowl
If J-Co wanted to go to a team where he can have a larger role, why the Steelers? They are stacked at WR.
Jetsfan80
This makes sense for Cotchery. With Hines Ward getting very long in the tooth he might actually win the # 2 job, which seems to be his goal wherever he ends up. He'd have a good QB and a great WR across from him in Mike Wallace. Klecko73isGod
Hines Ward, Mike Wallace, Emmanuel Sanders. If Cotch signs with the Steelers, his asking the Jets for a release will make no sense at all. He'd be lucky to get on the field in Pittsburgh. JiFtheOracle
This is kind off topic, but I wonder what the board's reaction would have been if the Steelers signed Plax instead of the Jets? Considering everything the Steelers do is perfect. Good luck to J-Co, <3ed the guy when he was here, but I dont care where he lands...he's not someone you worry about. Steelers WR's are Mike Wallace and a whole lotta nothing. How are they stacked?
hoping4ASuperBowl
Steelers WR's are Mike Wallace and a whole lotta nothing. How are they stacked? Ward is the family member who won't go away, he keeps playing. And Sanders looked pretty good last year too.
nycdan
Ward is the family member who won't go away, he keeps playing. And Sanders looked pretty good last year too. It would only seem fair considering we have their two best WRs of the past 10 years on our roster now.
hoping4ASuperBowl
It would only seem fair considering we have their two best WRs of the past 10 years on our roster now. Now if only we could have gotten them 10 years ago. Oh well.
Klecko73isGod
Now if only we could have gotten them 10 years ago. Oh well. 10 years ago Santonio would have only been 17.
Jared
10 years ago Santonio would have only been 17. Just the right age for Sanchez?
