The National Weather service at 3 PM downgraded it to a Cat 1 before it hits NC. Are projecting it to be a minimal Cat 1 or a TS when it gets to NJ.

I'm watching CNN, and of course they are showing tape of Katrina, LOL. This is a grand stand play by the local politicians to to get face time on CNN. When this is over they will all pat one another on the back, and say that their actions saved thousands of lives.

As to when it hits NY/NJ, dependes very much on the tides as to how bad the surge is. Seems like this is becoming a replay of Belle in the 1970s and Gloria in 1986; as hurricanes get over the cooler waters of the Mid-Atlantic they lose steam. Problem is we are in a new moon cyle, so the tides are especially high right now. If this comes near shors during low or outgoing tides, we are probably going to be okay. If it come is with the tide,we will be facing serious surge floods.

In NYC, all of Rockaway, parts of Staten Island and Coney Island are under mandatory evacuation orders.

Suspect Governor Christie is going to tell them to canel the game.
