On Tuesday New York Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson addressed the media. Here is the transcript courtesy of the Jets.

On what happened last night during the game…

I was just pass rushing and he came up to pass protect and I ran into him the first time, the ball was thrown and he approached me, threw a blow at me and that’s what it was. I retaliated. Was it a smart move? No. Do I regret it? No. It’s football and I am not going to let somebody try to take advantage of me. It’s over with now. That’s past me, so I am just getting ready for Philly now.

On if rookies have to learn how to control their emotions during the game…

Definitely. It was a rookie mistake. I let my anger get the best of me there, but that is something that I have to learn from and move forward with.

On his preseason so far…

I think I had a good preseason. I just wanted to come in and just try to work week in and week out and improve from the first game. I just want to keep doing that this season, move forward and progressing every week.

He's still thinking out there. Once he's comfortable and can just play it will be different and I think he will be a good one for us. He starts low which is important. So many guys stand right up at the snap. From what I could see, it looked like he started lower. That's a good sign IMO

i read like two or three reports that both said the other teams guys started it and thier guy just punched second...i was reading giants and jets stories...anyhow i saw the game i'm pretty sure jacobs flew off the handle first and Wilk had just got under his skin and punch back at him...i personally like it, good for him standing up for himself...i think Rex liked it too
