Mayock Live Draft Q&A now Live

Mike Mayock is like the THIRD best draft guru so who the hell cares what he says? McShay rode the coat tails of Mel Kiper and Mayock rides the coat tails of McShay. If he can be a draft guru anyone can. This guy is terrible at in game announcing as color man. Has a bit of a lisp like Lou Holtz (say it don't spray it).

There's no such thing as good draft gurus. There's only people who would be working for teams if they could hack it.

While true, Mexiroll is still way wrong on this one. McShay is the bottom of the barrel. He's not even charged with predicting anything or getting anything right, his sole purpose is to act as a foil to Kiper and incite the same sort of tension that generated ratings around the draft way back when Bill Tobin the ex-Colts GM and Kiper went back and forth.

In other words, McShay's job is to troll Kiper.

Mayock is actually better than both of them at this stuff, it's when the NFL network extends Mayock into other NFL stuff that he looks like a know-nothing dope. The player evaluations Mayock does are usually okay... the prognostication on who will get picked when is purely information gathering and guess work, they all suck at that.

I would agree with your rankings but the point remains that we're still talking about three hacks and dumb people to boot. For everything they get right because of their connections they get ten things wrong because they're no good at correlating stuff with imperfect information and they don't seem to be capable of learning a ******* thing. If you want to hitch your wagon to somebody make it a guy like Waldman who has a background in process management and can see the forest for the trees. Or find a gambler.

The thing I like about Waldman is that he's more in the business of evaluations than predictions. There's just way too much noise that has been introduced into the whole process of trying to figure out who will go where, and it only escalates because it's capital driven. Waldman's curiosity comes off as uncorruptable, at least I hope.
