It's hard for a DC to get pissed off at his $16M defensive lineman and have it be effective. The defensive coordinator's job is a lot less secure than a star player. Special teamers, meanwhile, are fringe roster players. Easily replaceable, for the most part. Can't handle the heat? There's another guy just like you desperate to take your job.
