Lombardi World?

Picture a Super Bowl theme park.

The Miami Dolphins have such a vision in mind, and have presented the concept to owners for consideration.

What the Dolphins have in mind is making Dolphins Stadium one of two permanent sites for the Super Bowl. California also has expressed interest in the idea. Other cities also would be part of the Super Bowl rotation.

The Dolphins' idea is to turn the Super Bowl -- which has been a one-week extravaganza -- into a two-week celebration of football at a permanent location, beginning with Miami. Under the Dolphins' plan, the Pro Bowl, which has been staged in Honolulu, would be played at the Super Bowl site the weekend before the game.

The Dolphins are suggesting there would be construction in and around Dolphins Stadium, which would include a theater that potentially could host pregame and halftime shows for the Super Bowl, fields for youth football games, and hotels.

"It really is quite an exciting vision of where the Super Bowl is going," Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said. "It is an exciting prospect that could have an impact globally. The focus would be, more than ever, on the game."

The concept is merely being reviewed by the owners. No votes will be taken on it during the meetings.

Nice neutality shown by Dolphins to be one of the permanent host cities in this arrangement they are proposing.
