Thats the card he'll play, the Darnold card.  Just think if he was trading out of the 2nd spot he would have made the SF deal

The only thing that I am hesitant about is the Carolina card. SF will be healthy next year and with Garropolo or Wilson will be likely playing in the playoffs. Carolina is at #8 vs #12. Carolina even with a promising young Qb will be picking mid-teens. Perhaps JD has an understanding with Panthers in place. 
 

As far as Darnold, I have no idea how he intends  to play that card. Maybe trading up with the Bears with Sammy plus a lesser pick thrown in.
