Jets | Vilma going with the flow

Sun, 18 Jun 2006 09:40:24 -0700

Dave Hutchinson, of the Star-Ledger, reports the team's new 3-4 defense may not be the best fit for <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl">New York Jets LB Jonathan Vilma, but he's going with the flow. "It (two-gaping and taking on blockers) isn't really a major factor because we can switch up and morph into whatever we want to do," Vilma said. "It won't be a big issue."

Jets | Clemens most impressive quarterback at minicamp

Sun, 18 Jun 2006 09:39:48 -0700

Dave Hutchinson, of the Star-Ledger, reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl">New York Jets rookie QB Kellen Clemens was the most impressive of the team's four quarterbacks at minicamp, outperforming veteran QBs Chad Pennington, Patrick Ramsey and Brooks Bollinger. Clemens displayed an exceptional arm, moxie and the leadership ability of a veteran. He has what people describe as "it." Whether rookie head coach Eric Mangini is prepared to go with a rookie QB is a different question. He has plenty of time and the backing of general manager Mike Tannenbaum and owner Woody Johnson, and it will be interesting to see what he does. "Each guy is missing some things that you'd like them to see, and some guys are making some throws that you're really happy with," Mangini said. "This is just that period where they're getting used to the offense." Bollinger will battle Ramsey for a roster spot.

considering Pennington's injury history, I seriously think we might as well keep 4 QBs on our opening day roster

Only if he's the opening day starter would such a move even be considered. Even still, what's the point? If we're down to our 4th string QB does it honestly matter?

Ultimately, it's going to be Chad, Clemens, and Ramsey (unless after another 2 months Ramsey still has his head up his ass). Bottom line is that even though he'll never be confused with Tom Brady, if Chad and Clemens are both out, Ramsey can at least beat a weaker team with his arm.

There are no 'weaker' teams than the Jets.

you really believe that?I don't-we're a year removed from almost...and have made some significant upgrades-AND have the weakest schedule to contend with.I for one ain't writing off 06 like half the fans on both sites already are...

the game is all about injuries-whoever gets the least (and especially) in the non-crucial areas always has a shot in this age of NFL parity.Add to that a call here,a call there,a kick going through and an opponents not...hey anything can happen man

sofla I couldn't agree with you more. Would I be dissapointed if we didn't go to the playoffs or superbowl of course. But lets just play the season before we start thinking about getting the first pick in next years draft.

yea coach I couldn't see myself sitting through what I went thru last year-in fact I wasn't even going to renew my NFL package if Edwards and Bradway stayed-watching the Jets and not even getting emotional was hell and hoping for Reggie Bush was even worse-for me anyway

It has been proven you can turn a team and a record around quickly with good drafting, free agent additions and luck with no major injuries.

Who expected Chicago as an example to do so well last year
