faba
2004 Scouting Report - Football Scouts Inc. Name: Darren Sharper Position: Safety Grade: 85 | Key Alert: None Comment: Sharper has good size, long arms and good hands. Has very good timed speed and was a punt returner in college, which helped his ball skills. Shows the ability to turn and run and builds speed as he goes. Is an intelligent safety that is crafty in coverage and has very good mechanics. He does not have great size near the LOS but he's a sideline-to-sideline chase guy. Has learned to fight through traffic and has developed into an adequate tackler. Does a better job now of breaking down in space and tackling in the open field. He's not a big hitter and will have some trouble when reached in the run game, but for the most part he uses his athleticism to get around blocks and chase down plays in the run game. If there is one area he does need to improve, it is his angles in pursuit. Occasionally will take a poor angle, get himself out of position and come up short on a tackle that he should have made, as a result. Overall, Sharper did not have an elite season in '03, but in our opinion, he by no means is on the downside of his career.

TomShane
As a player...his brother Jamie has that sexy long hair you like Shane. Here's the problem with Sharper: He's the dude who gave the 4th and 26 to Freddie Mitchell two years ago, and he's the dude who gave up Terrell Owens' huge TD against SF (I believe) 4 years ago. Both in huge spots in the playoffs. Sharper's talented, but when an opponent needs a big play, he's the guy they can count on to screw up.
124
Sharper is a really good player, possibly a Top 5 safety in the league, and if not he is a sure Top 10. I would love to have him here teaming up with Erik Coleman, that safety duo would be hard to match.
