Bye Week: State of the Jets

Again, you are overthinking it big time. Revis is gone in 5 years? What the heck are you talking about, honestly? You cannot build a perfect team, its impossible.

And the Packers have had a sh#tty defense for YEARS all the way from 2003 thru 2006. It took them 4 years to get it back to where it is today. Mangini has had 2 frickin years, relax and have a sandwich.

Exactly, we can't just plan out whats going to happen. Players will come and go, some undrafted rookie could turn to a supertstar. No one has a clue what will happen in this league.

Rhodes has played very well this season.

Unfortunately, it all starts up front, and thats where we're REALLY bad. Given a decent DL this defense could be amongst the best in the league.

As to the rebuilding argument: Yes, we are rebuilding, and yes it has to be done. For some reason people think that it shouldn't take more than a year for teams to rebuild. but when you go five years and bring in only a few young, talented players (thanks herm), then it will take longer as a good portion of the team needs to be replaced.

Isn't Herm responsible for DRob, Miller, Cotchery, Rhodes, Hobson, Thomas, Moore? He also had brought in Santana Moss during his tenure right? Herm brought in a lot of guys, and Mangini seems all too happy to keep them instead of cutting bait. Herm brought in more players every year than Mangini did last year, that's for sure.

Rhodes has been awesome, one of Herm's best picks.

Cotchery is great but Herm never had the guts or brains to bench someone like Jmac and put him in.

Drob sucks, the only reason he isnt gone yet is because his cap and signing bonus are both HUGE... He will not be resigned after next season.

Miller is a young guy that has yet to develop. Apparently he improved a lot this offseason but never got to show it due to two injuries that resulted in him having to sit out the season.

Santana Moss was never really that good for us, and Herm was the one that got rid of him, so thats void.

Thomas- He only began to be somewhat avg after MANGINI moved him from DE to OLB in the 3-4. Still only avg. though.

Hobson?

Moore?

Both of these guys are serviceable, but certainly not anything to brag about.

Oh, and Mangini did cut bait with Fabini, Mawae, Law, Kendall, JAbe, JMac(essentially), and Askew, amongst others, so I dont really see your point there.

Not exactly true..... The Packers defense started to improve over the past few years..> They weren't that good, but they were building a good defense with the draft and some young talent. And maybe you should get your facts straight......

The Packers were a bad Favre pass away from being in the NFC Championship game in 2003. They won like 6 games in a row in 2004 and made the playoffs....

They stunk in 2005 and Favre had like 29 picks. In 2006 they went 8-8 and were one of the hotter teams to end the season.. This season they are 8-1....

So much for your 4 year rebuilding plan crap... More like they stunk in 2005 and turned in it around. Like I said, maybe you should actually know what happened. The Packers defense might not have been great, but weren't they the reason they beat the Seahawks in the playoffs a few years back? Don't bring up the Packers who had really 1 bad season and say it took them 4 years to rebuild... Like I said, 2005 they were horrible, and 2 years later they are 8-1 and look like a super bowl contender. Who knows if they are for real...

But in 2005, the Jets and Packers stunk. In 2006 the Jets went 10-6 and the Pack went 8-8. In 2007 the Packers are 8-1 and the Jets are 1-8.. Go figure they seem to know how to rebuild and we don't.

Name one thing the Jets are building at this point? The Jets are worse now then they were in 2005.

We go into next season with one of the worst OL in the NFL, one of the worst Defenses in the NFL and no running game.. Essentially this offseason we are worse than last offseason... When you are rebuilding you expect to make something better... You don't expect everything to get worse in Year Two.

So what will the excuse be next season? "Oh we have a lot of rookies..."

And after 4 years Revis can be a free agent if he chooses..... If the Jets are still "rebuilding" Revis might choose to leave, who knows.. Will Coles even be here next season? Will Rhodes? Vilma probably won't..... Drob probably will. There is not one thing on this team that has improved.

This is year two and when you are 10 times worse in year two than in year one, that's not rebuilding.

And stop with the Rebuilding crap.... .>> You don't trade for Thomas Jones if you are rebuilding. You don't trade for Barlow if you are rebuilding....

Stop with the excuses.

Jets can buy back Revis' last 2 years of his contract, I believe.

BTW, Packers defense rankings since 2003:

11th, 23rd, 20th, 25th

Their defense has sucked since 2003. Get YOUR facts straight.

BTW, Jets had the 6th ranked scoring defense in 2006.

Overall this is pretty accurate....just a couple of things I would tweak:

FO...I don't think the FO has been good at all. The chemistry of the team starts right here at the foot of the FO.

From the FO, then we look at the HC.

Actually, the top of the sh*t pyramid is the owner, Woody Johnson.
