Underwood from the practice squad. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum. He recorded 68 tackles, two interceptions and four fumble recoveries during four seasons at Rutgers University. Underwood (6'1", 185) was signed to the practice squad Oct. 10. He originally signed with the New York Giants as a rookie free agent May 13, 2006, and spent the 2006 season on injured reserve. He was signed to the Giants' practice squad Sept. 2 before being released Oct. 8. The Hamilton, Ohio, native played three years at Ohio State before transferring to Pikeville College (NAIA). Ex-Rutgers CB Manny Collins, who spent several weeks on the Jets practice squad before being released last month, is expected to be re-signed to the practice squad today, according to someone who has spoken to Collins.
