good job omar, is this two straight years losing out on an Oakland ace?

EXCELLENT pickup by the d-backs

while I'm happy they didn't get Zito for the contract that the Giants gave him, I would have loved to have Haren.

Next up to lose out on is Harden when he proves himself healthy.

But I'm sure they will get Blanton:dohslap:

Damn, would have loved Haren but it sounded like the last few days that the D'Backs were going all out to get him. He's young too. Damn !!

Haren, Webb is a nice 1-2 punch. Argument-ally, one of the best in Baseball. Haren should do well in the NL, in spite of his HR propensity (90+ in 780 or so lifetime innings. But no DH in the NL, bigger parks, and weaker hitting #8 guys will help him).

Add in Davis, a serviceable lefty, and Owings, an up and comer from their system. Nice group of starters. Oh yes, there is always the Randy Johnson factor, but at his age, with his recent health history, I don't know how much they are counting on him.

Lots of good looking, young hitters, who will only get better.

They may be the team to beat this year. They led the NL in wins last year, and have really improved the rotation.
