Frank Spaziani is the favorite to replace Jeff Jagodzinski as Boston College's football coach, the Boston Globe reports, but ECU's Skip Holtz is one of two outside candidates expected to interview for the job.

Holtz led ECU to the Conference USA title and a 9-5 record in his fourth season with the Pirates. He flirted with Syracuse during the break between the Pirates' C-USA title game win and the Liberty Bowl loss to Kentucky.

Neither Holtz nor ECU AD Terry Holland could be immediately reached for comment. According to the Globe, BC wants to announce its selection no later than Monday, if possible. Holtz was scheduled to be in Greenville through most of the weekend to greet several visiting football prospects.

BC has opening because AD Gene DeFilippo fired Jagodzinski after he interviewed with the Jets. Another former ECU coach, Steve Logan, is an internal candidate at BC. Logan has been the Eagles' offensive coordinator for the past two seasons.

Jack Bicknell Jr., whose dad was the Eagles' coach during the Doug Flutie Era, is also considered a candidate from Jagodzinski's staff, according to the Globe.

Richmond coach Mike London, a former assistant at Virginia, is the second external candidate expected to interview, according to the Globe. London led Richmond to the FCS national title this season.

SJ comment: If Spaz true favorite I highly doubt Holtz would further piss off ECU by interviewing..I think Holtz is favorite if HE wants the gig
