Former Detroit Lions first-round running back Kevin Jones has been targeted as a free agent worthy of consideration by several teams, according to a league source.

Jones is on the radar of the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, St. Louis Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Drafted in the first round out of Virginia Tech, Jones spent last season with the Chicago Bears.

He rushed for 109 yards on 34 carries last season, playing in 11 games with no starts.

Jones has 3,176 career rushing yards and 24 touchdowns with 143 career receptions for 1,011 yards and three touchdown catches.

Jones, 26, has a respectable 4.0 average per carry in 49 career starts.

Thomas is older and Leon is not an every-down back so we should start looking at this position...but I wouldn't start here...

yea didn't we already DO this dance a few years ago when we took the guy from the 49ers instead...what was his name again? Well anyway KJ's name was bandied about-along with almost every other POS scrub RB that was available back then

Why? We have the AFC's leading rusher and Leon Washington so in a word, why?

Watch us trade Leon for a WR or ILB.

Thomas Jones is going to be 31 years old, he might have relatively young legs due to being a bench player/committee back his first 4 years, but you still have to safeguard yourself against him potentially hitting the wall.

I'd like to draft someone in the 3rd or 4th round to groom behind him and Leon for a year, and eventually split carries with Leon once TJ is done.

If Leon is not on this team next year you better hope that our defense shuts out every team we play. He make this offense go..hell....he makes this team go!

He SHOULD be making this Offense go, problem is he's been underutilized on Offense the last couple years so he really hasn't. I'm hoping Schottenheimer is making it a priority to figure out ways to get the ball into his hands more often next season.

hey Joe last night somebody posted a rumor-thread about a 3 way trade with us, Cleveland and somebody else with us ending up with Braylon Edwards. Anybody think Mangini is that stoopit? Oh wait that's the guy who gave away a starting playoff QB to A DIVISION RIVAL for nothing
