Red Sox trade for Hermida

Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff November 5, 2009 05:34 PM

The Red Sox have acquired 25-year-old OF Jeremy Hermida from the Marlins for LHPs Hunter Jones and Jose Alvarez.

Hermida had a .259/.348/.392 season for the Marlins. He has lefty power and seems likely to be the fourth outfielder. The former first-round pick is arbitration eligible after signing a one-year, $2.25 million deal last January.

At first glance, this is a deal that brings upside at low cost for Boston.

Gave up not much for a player with some upside. Will be a decent 4th OF option I suppose.

Can't blame them. They already have tremendous pitching depth which brought them to their 3rd title in 6 years.

This has no place here. We're talking baseball in this thread, not smack.

And yes, the Sox will still have a wealth of pitching for next season. The already have a starting 5 penciled in. Can the Yankees say the same? Is Pettitte done? What are Hughes and Joba's roles going to be? Which AJ Burnett will show up next season (the really good one or the really bad one) or will he continue to be a roller coaster?

How many more years does Mo have? Seriously, I think he should retire! ;)

A NYer not being classy. Surely you jest.

Listen, you cannot be an assclown with 9 years of pent up angst and expect it to be done in two days.

Spin Cycle

Maybe, just maybe one of these years you might be right of the demise of the Yankees pitching, and the wealth of Sawx talent

How did that talent work out for you this year?

The Yankees had 3 starters they could rely on in the postseason. The Yankees bullpen outside of Rivera was not very stable. Those are facts.

It worked out in the end for them, but if anyone knows the whereabouts of Ryan Howard, Phillies fans would like you to contact them.

He can be seen washing the windows at CC's house, cleaning the pool at Andy's house, and washing Marte's clothes

The fuc*er was pwned by the Yankee World Champion pitching staff
